Update to that Update: Diablo Season 2 has released. Per the official Diablo Twitter, the game will not have crossplay between PC and consoles due to the issues from before.

Season of Blood is live, however due to a technical issue cross play between PC and Consoles is temporarily unavailable.

We are working to resolve this and will provide updates as they are available.

Update: Diablo 4 Season 2 has been delayed by a few hours to remedysome last-minute technical issues that occurred. A statement was issued about the delay on the Blizzard forums from the Community Manager SinfulScribe, and a tweet has been made from the official Diablo Twitter/X account about the delay. We’ll follow this and update the Season of Blood countdown accordingly. We’ve amended the countdown by a few hours, but we’re unsure how long the delay will be.

Diablo 4 Season 2 Countdown is set to release on October 17th, 2023, at 5 PM UTC originally before the delay. When the Diablo 4 Season 2 countdown timer below reaches zero, you’ll be able to hop into Diablo 4 and start killing and looting the denizens of hell in Season of Blood, no matter where you live in the world!

What is changing in Diablo 4 Season 2 – Season of Blood

Diablo 4 Season 2 Countdown – Release Time & Date - Try Hard Guides (1)

Big changes are coming in Diablo 4 Season 2 – Season of Blood. Four main aspects are being overhauled, Resistances, Unique Items, Damage Buckets, and Class Improvements. Here’s everything we know:

Season of Blood New Bosses

Here are the new endgame bosses names you’ll be facing in Season of Blood:

  • Duriel, King of Maggots
  • Lord Zir
  • Echo of Varshan
  • Grigoire, the Galvanic Saint
  • The Beast of Ice

Season of Blood Resistances

In Season of Blood, Elemental Resistances are now additive with a base cap of 70%, which can be increased to 85% through various means like Skills and Elixirs. Armor only reduces physical damage. Rings and Amulets inherently feature two stats: Resist to All Elements and a random Elemental Resistance. The focus is on optimizing your character’s elemental resistances through different tools like itemization and the Skill Tree. By Level 80, you should be able to max out your Elemental Resistances at the 70% base cap, allowing you to then focus on other character stats.

Season of Blood Unique Items

In Season of Blood, Unique items have been extensively reworked to make them more impactful. The four-fold strategy for updating these items includes: adding entirely new stats, allowing existing stats to roll in higher ranges, adding stats to slots where they usually wouldn’t appear, and simplifying the conditions for Unique powers and effects. For example, a Unique item could have a stat like “Bonus Spirit Generation while Tornadoes are active,” or offer increased ranges for existing stats like Bonus Fire Damage. Here are a few new stat examples that we know of and another stat changes:

  • New Stats
    • Cooldown Reduction [4.2-7%]
    • Rain of Arrows Cooldown Reduction [14.0-21.0%]
  • Added new Stats to new Slots
  • Updated Unique Effects
  • Larger Existing Stat Ranges

Season of Blood Damage Buckets

In Diablo IV’s Season of Blood, the damage calculation system is being revamped. Previously, different types of bonus damage like Critical Strike and Vulnerable Damage were multiplicative when combined, making them disproportionately powerful. Now, only the base bonus damage from these categories will be multiplicative; additional bonus damage will be additive. The base multiplicative bonuses are 20% for Vulnerable Damage, and 50% for both Critical Strike and Overpower Damage. This change aims to balance the effectiveness of different damage types.

Season of Blood Class Improvements

Diablo IV’s Season of Blood is rolling out a series of balance updates and class-specific improvements in response to community feedback. For instance, Sorcerers will experience a quicker ramp-up time for Incinerate’s bonus damage, dropping from 4 to 2 seconds. Druids will benefit from Nature’s Fury’s free skills, which will now be categorized as both Earth and Storm skills.

In addition to these class adjustments, we’re introducing scaling effects to various game mechanics across all classes.

For the Barbarian, the Blood Rage skill will now boost all damage based on their Damage while Berserking bonus. For the Rogue, the explosion damage from Victimize will increase as they build up their Vulnerable Damage Bonus stat. These changes aim not only to maintain the current player power levels but also to enrich the itemization experience, particularly as players delve into the later stages of the game.

Can you preload Season of Blood?

No, you cannot preload Diablo 4 Season 2 Season of Blood. You just have to wait for the official release and download it all there and then.

What is the predicted file size of Diablo 4 Season of Blood?

Based on speculation from Diablo 4 Season 1, it’s safe to assume that Season of Blood will be between 10-20 GB. Season 1 was just over 10GB, and Season 2 offers a lot more changes than Season 1. Honestly, I can see the download sizes for each new season getting bigger and bigger.
