How to prioritize megashipyard for construction of ships? (2024)

I love my mega shipyards, but when I construct ships from the fleet manager, it assigns construction to other shipyards first. Sometimes, it even stacks ship construction on a shipyard with ships waiting in the queue while the mega shipyard sits idle.

Is there a way to tell the game to put all ship construction on the mega shipyard first?

The difference is that my 6 slot shipyard starbases are queuing up 12-24 ships each while the mega shipyard with its faster build time and 20 simultaneous construction slots sits idle.

I'd like the megashipyard to queue first, since it builds faster and has 20 slots to build at the same time. I'm not even thinking of ship XP right now. (I might consider that later.)

Are the fleets you want to build to nearest to the mega shipyard, or to the other shipyards?

They don't exist yet. I'm using the fleet manager to create entirely new fleets, and the queue from shipyards in the order they are present in the outliner....

... except they double up on other shipyards and don't always spill over to the megashipyard. And I'd rather start constructions with the megashipyard (with its 20 slots and a construction speed bonus) with the spill over going to starbases with shipyards.

Yeah, OK. That's a slightly odd behaviour.

I've got around it in previous games by manually building one ship at the desired shipyard per fleet, and then using the fleet designer to fill the fleets out completely. At that point because they're at the right shipyard they *should* use it to build.

I might try that out as a temporary fix.

The megashipyard has a construction speed bonus? Are you talking about the build speed modifier? That should be an empire wide buff, not just for the megashipyard itself.

That's also how I've understood the pre-release materials. The build speed bonus applies to all Shipyard slots in all Starbases, not just to the Mega-Shipyard.
