Why You'll Love this Recipe

Quick & Easy - If you have five minutes and five ingredients you can make this passion fruit tequila margarita at home! And you don't even need fancy co*cktail tools because I gotchu covered with common kitchen dupes you can use instead.

Customizable - Options are endless to make this drink your own, so I've included several modification options below.

Refreshing Fruity Flavor - Passion fruit is sweet but not overpowering is balanced out so nicely by notes of orange and lime making this passion fruit and chili margarita so easy to sip. I tasted my first passion fruit marg on a Tulum solo trip and this recipe recreates those vibes perfectly!

Living in a warm climate, we LOVE tropical co*cktails around here like my spicy jalapeńo pineapple mimosas, frozen piña colada margarita, and sweet hibiscus martini! And don't sleep on the white hennessy daiquiri co*cktail or my spiced pineapple mojito.

What You'll Need for this Recipe

Passion Fruit Juice, ideally from fresh passion fruits, but bottled still tastes great and is what I use when they aren't in season. You can also make the margarita with passion fruit pulp, nectar, syrup or even a passion fruit puree margarita!

Fresh Lime Juice is the best option for the freshest tasting margarita here but you can get away with concentrated lime juice, if need be.

Mexican Chile Spice Blend around the rims gives this drink a kick of smoky peppery spice with every sip. Tajín and Valentina are the most popular brands or your can make your own homemade Mexican spice blend to keep on deck.

Substitutions & Variations

Orange Liqueur - Grab Triple Sec, Cointreau, Grand Marnier or whichever brand you typically enjoy in a co*cktail. You could also add a passion fruit liqueur like Chinola for more robust flavor that's a bit more lit!

On the Rocks or Frozen - You can easily make this rocks passion fruit margarita frozen by tossing all the ingredients in a blender and pulsing until smooth.

Non-Alcoholic - Make a virgin passion fruit margarita by swapping in your favorite zero proof tequila expression and orange juice or orange syrup in place of the liqueur.

Tequila Brand - I'm not terribly picky on tequilas and have successfully made this homemade margarita with Jose Cuervo, 1800, and Casamigos so use whatever you like best.

Tequila or Mezcal - If you know me, you know I'm actually mezcal gal so it says a lot that I can go either way with this drink. Whether you make a passion fruit mezcal margarita or use tequila, I think you'll love it.

Check out my mezcal ranch water recipe, while you're here! It's a great example of using mezcal in a traditional tequila co*cktail that just works!
