YourKing dealershouldbeabletoprovideyouwithakit thatwillhandlemostofthisinstallation,whichwillinclude awallthimblethatwillallowtheproperclearancethrough acombustiblewall.Onceoutsidethestructure,a3-inch clearanceshouldbemaintainedfromtheoutsidewallanda cleanoutteeshouldbeplacedonthepipewitha90-degree turnawayfromthehouse.Atthispoint,a3-foot(minimum) sectionofpipeshouldbeaddedwithahorizontalcap,which wouldcompletetheinstallation(seeFIGURE7).     Understanding your stove How your stove works YourKingstoveutilizesainclinedaugerfuelfeedsystemthatisoperatedbyamicroprocessorcontrolleddigitalcircuit board.Thedigitalcircuitboardallowstheinclinedaugerfuelfeedsystemtoruninatimer-based,non-continuouscycle; thiscyclingallowstheaugertorunforapredeterminedperiodofseconds.Theaugerpushespelletsupachutelocated atthefront/bottomofthehopperwhichinturnfallsthroughanotherchuteintotheburnpot.Yourstoveisequippedwith anautomaticignitionsystemthatshouldignitethefuelwithin5-10minutesfrompressingtheONbutton.Aspellets entertheburnpotandignite,outsideairisdrawnacrossthefuelandheatedduringthecombustionprocesswhichis thenpulledthroughtheheatexchangerbytheexhaustmotorordraftfan.Asthestoveheatsup,roomairiscirculated aroundtheheatexchangerbymeansofaroomairblower,distributingwarmairintotheroom. Theamountofheatproducedbythestoveisproportionaltotherateofthefuelthatisburned,andthisrateiscontrolled bythe“HEATRANGE”setting.Inordertomaintaincombustionofthefuelatadesiredrate,theairprovidedtotheburn chamberbytheexhaustordraftfanmustbemaintainedprecisely.Toolittleairwillresultinaflamethatisnon-energetic orlazy.Ifthefuelcontinuestoflowwithtoolittleairforlongenough,theburnpotwillfillwithtoomuchfuelandthefire willsmotherout.Tomuchairwillresultinaflamethatisoveractiveoraggressive.Theflameinthissituationistypically veryblueatthebottomandresemblesablowtorch.Ifthissituationcontinues,thefuelintheburnpotwillbeconsumed andthefirewillgoout. Matchingtheamountofairrequiredforpropercombustiontothefuelrateistheprimaryobjectiveineffectivelyburning pelletsofvariousbrandsandqualitiesinyourstove.Theairtofuelratiocanbeadjustedtoallowalmostanyfuelquality toburneffectivelybyfollowingtheproceduresdetailedintheremainderofthismanual.     Control Panel Overview TurningtheheaterON/OFF,aswellasadjustmentsforthefuelfeedrateandroomfanspeedareperformedbypressing theappropriatebutton(s)onthecontrolpanelwhichislocatedonthelowerleft-handsideofyourheater. Thisunitcanbechangedbetweenanautomaticoperationoramanualoperation.Thecontrollercomesdefaultinthe automaticmode. • ON/OFF Pressingthe“ON”buttononthecontrolpanelwillbeginthestart-upsequencefortheheater.Fuelwillbegintofeed throughtheaugerfeedsystemthenigniteafterapprox.5minutes.     Operation uNiT PrEPArATiON Aftercarefullyunpackingandreadingtheinstructionsforinstallingyourstove,youwillneedtoperformthefollowingsteps: Attachtheincludedspringhandletothedoorhandlebyscrewingitoninarespectivelocation. • • Attachtheelectricalcordtothebackofthestovefirst;thenplugitintoa110-voltoutlet(anoutletsurgeprotectoris highlyrecommended). PErFrOMiNg AN iNTiAL TEST Thistestisusedatthefactorywherethestovesareassembledtotestthefunctionalityofthecontrolandthestove beforetheunitisshipped.Toperformthistest,pressandholdtheOFFandAUGERDELAYbuttonssimultaneouslyfor 3seconds.Toadvancethroughthetest,pressanykeyunlessotherwisenotedintheteststep. ExhaustFanOutputTest–Thedisplaywillshow“drft”.Theexhaustfanisturnedonfullthenreducedtoaleveljust abovethetypicalminimumpressureswitchsetting.TheONLEDindicateswhetherthepressuresensorisdetected. Ifthepressureswitchisnotdetected,thefanrampstofullonfortwosecondsthenreturnstothepreviouslyestablished levelifthepressureswitchcloses.IftheDraftFanFuseisnotblownandthefusedetectioncircuitisfunctioning, theDraftFanLEDwillbelitandtheotherthreetoprowLEDswillbeoff. RoomFanOutputTest-Thedisplaywillshow“rfan”.Theroomfanisturnedonfull.IftheRoomFanFuseisnot blownandthefusedetectioncircuitisfunctioning,theRoomFanLEDwillbelitandtheotherthreetoprowLEDs willbeoff. ThermostatInputTest–Thedisplaywillshow“stat”.Ifthethermostatinputisclosed,theONLEDwillturnon, otherwiseitwillbeoff. FluegasThermistorTest–ThedisplaywillshowthefluegastemperatureindegreesF. ACFrequencyTest-DisplaysthemeasuredACFrequencyinhertz(59-60)followedbytheletter‘H’. WatchdogReset–Thewatchdogtimeristestedtoensurethattheboardcanbereset.Themessage“BYE”is displayeduntilthewatchdogresetstheboard. PErFOrMiNg A “dry ruN” Performa“dryrun”onyourstovepriortomakingtheexhaust/inletconnectionsandstartingyourstoveforthefirsttime.

    Operation STArT-uP PrOCEdurE Never use gasoline, gasoline-type lantern fuel, kerosene, charcoal lighter fluid, or similar liquids to start or  “freshen up” a fire in this stove. Keep all such liquids well away from the stove while it is in use. Verifythatthehopperiscleanandfreeofforeignmatter.

    Intheeventofapower outage,thestoveWILLNOTfunction.Itisveryimportantthatunitbeventedproperly(with outsideair),asthenaturaldraftisneededtoclearthesmokefromthestoveduringapoweroutage.Iftheunitwas“ON” whenthepoweroutageoccurred,oneofthefollowingwilltakeplace: Ifthestoveisstillwarm,itwillresumefeedingfuelandcontinuetooperatenormally.Ifthefirehasgoneout,you willhavetopressthe“OFF” buttonandthenthe“ON” buttonagaintobeginanewstart-upsequence. Ifthestovehascooled-off,itwillresettoits“OFF” condition.Atthispoint,youmaypressthe“ON” buttonandthe unitwillbeginanewstart-upsequence. NOTE:Theunitwillalsoshutdownintheeventofanexhaustblowerfailure;ifthisisthecase,theunitwillnotre-start andyoumustcontactCustomerServiceat(800)750-2723. SAFETy ANd CONvENiENCE FEATurES YourKing incorporatesasafety pressure switch thathelpsensurethateverythingisinproperworkingorderbefore feedingfueltotheburnpot.Becausethestoveworksusinganinduceddraftpressure,thestovewillnotcontinueto operateiftheviewingdoorisleftopen;oriftheexhaustblowerfailsortheexhaustsystemisblocked. Thetemperature limit control (Thermistor)willpreventyourstovefromoperatingatabnormallyhightemperatures. Shouldthestovetemperaturebegintoapproachthefactorypre-setlimit,thetemperaturelimitcontrolwillautomatically slowdowntheaugerfeedrateuntilthetemperaturereturnstoanormalcondition.Eventhoughtheheaterwilloperate onthehighestsetting,werecommendtooperateyourheateronthissettingforonlyashortperiodoftime.(1houretc.) Yourstovealsoincludesanauto-start igniter asastandardfeature.Theuseofotherfirestartermaterials(woodchips, startergel,etc.)isnotnecessary.Bysimplypressingthe“ON”buttononthedigitalcontrolpanel,yourstovewillbegin tofeedfuelandautomaticallystartwithin5minutes. Thisstovehastwo(2)ashslidesandanashpanforconvenient and periodic ash removal.

    DOOR AND GlASS GASKETS Inspectthemaindoorandglasswindowgasketsperiodically.Themaindoormayneedtoberemovedtohavefrayed, broken,orcompactedgasketsreplacedbyyourAuthorized“King”Dealer.Theglassgaskethasagapatthebottom fortheairwash. BLOwEr MOTOrS Cleantheairholesonthemotorsofboththeexhaustanddistributionblowersannually.Removetheexhaustblower fromtheexhaustductandcleanouttheinternalfanbladesaspartofyourfallstart-up. PAiNTEd SurFACES Paintedsurfacesmaybewipeddownwithadampcloth.Ifscratchesappear,oryouwishtorenewyourpaint,contact yourAuthorized“King ” Dealertoobtainacanofsuitablehigh-temperaturepaint. gLASS Werecommendusingahighqualityglasscleaner.Shouldabuildupofcreosoteorcarbonaccumulate,youmaywish touse000steelwoolandwatertocleantheglass.Intheeventyouneedtoreplacetheglass,onlyhightemperature ceramicglassofthecorrectsizeandthicknessmaybeused.ContactyourAuthorized“King ” Dealertoobtainthisglass. FALL STArT uP Priortostartingthefirstfireoftheheatingseason,checktheoutsideareaaroundtheexhaustandairintakesystems forobstructions.Cleanandremoveanyflyashfromtheexhaustventingsystem.Cleananyscreensontheexhaust systemandontheoutsideairintakepipe.Turnallofthecontrolsonandmakesurethattheyareworkingproperly.This isalsoagoodtimetogivetheentirestoveagoodcleaningthroughout. SPriNg ShuTdOwN Afterthelastburninthespring,removeanyremainingpelletsfromthehopperandtheaugerfeedsystem.Scoopout thepelletsandthenruntheaugeruntilthehopperisemptyandpelletsstopflowing(thiscanbedonebypressingthe “ON” buttonwiththeviewingdooropen).Vacuumoutthehopper.Thoroughlycleantheburnpot,andfirebox.Itmay bedesirabletospraytheinsideofthecleanedhopperwithanaerosolsiliconesprayifyourstoveisinahighhumidity area.Theexhaustsystemshouldbethoroughlycleaned. yEArLy SErviCiNg AyearlyservicingandcleaningbyyourAuthorized“King”Dealerisrecommended.Afeemaybechargedforthisservice.
